Pentagon orders troops from 82nd Airborne Division to deploy to Middle East

The Pentagon has ordered up to 3,000 U.S. Army paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division to deploy to the Middle East as the conflict with Iran approaches its one-month mark. This deployment, along with existing troops and Marine Expeditionary Units, could place between 6,000 to 8,000 U.S. ground troops in close proximity to Iran. The Trump administration has also submitted a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran, which reportedly includes demands for Iran to cease nuclear weapons development. However, Iranian officials have publicly denied any ongoing negotiations, with a military spokesperson mocking the claims and calling them a "strategic failure." Meanwhile, Iran has stated it will allow the passage of "non-hostile" ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil transit route, but will exclude vessels belonging to the United States, Israel, and their allies. This announcement comes as Iran previously closed the strait in response to U.S. and Israeli airstrikes, leading to a global energy crisis. Despite Iranian denials, Pakistan has offered to facilitate talks between the U.S. and Iran to end the war. The situation remains tense, with both sides continuing military actions and diplomatic maneuvering.
